Snap-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3) is a synthetic octapeptide and an elongated analog of the well-known anti-wrinkle hexapeptide Argireline® (Acetyl Hexapeptide-8). By extending the original sequence with two additional amino acids and utilizing N-terminal acetylation and C-terminal amidation, Snap-8 exhibits significantly enhanced stability and potency in laboratory settings.

Designed as a competitive inhibitor of the SNARE complex formation, Snap-8 destabilizes the assembly of SNAP-25 into the core protein complex required for acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. Research studies suggest Snap-8 may reduce neurotransmitter release by approximately 60–70% more effectively than Argireline® in in vitro models, making it a valuable tool for investigating mechanisms of muscle contraction inhibition, exocytosis modulation, and wrinkle-formation pathways.
